Fall is a stunning time of the year for weddings due to the changing colors outside, cooler weather, and darker tones and aesthetics associated with all things fall. If you are currently planning a fall wedding, then you might be thinking of creative ways to incorporate the season into your decor and floral designs. Especially for couples with downtown, urban-style venues like The Ellis, it’s important to find ways to creatively bring the outside in, finding a floral style that complements the more industrial and modern aesthetics of a city venue. Our team over at Fiori Florals helped give us insight into unique floral ideas to inspire you for the fall season.

Seasonal Flowers

Incorporating seasonal flowers into your bouquets, centerpieces, and ceremony designs is a great way to bring the texture and colors of autumn directly into your wedding day. Use these seasonal favorites to bring in rich, warm tones with your florals:

Some of our fall favorites include:

  • Stuartiana Eucalyptus & Copper Beech
  • Chrysanthemums
  • Dahlias
  • Nandina

These flowers and greenery can help to evoke the cozy atmosphere that so many couples love for their fall weddings.

Color Palettes

As you plan your wedding, you’re likely choosing a color palette for your wedding parties’ attires, linens, and decor that all match and blend with the autumn season. It’s typical for couples to go with darker and moodier color palettes for fall, but that doesn’t mean that vibrant pops of color can’t be used. In fact, mixing in unexpected colors can bring added energy to the floral designs overall.

Current color combinations that we love include:

  • Browns & mustards as a base, with pops of orange, blue or pink
  • Toffee colors with combo roses specifically
  • Rich plums and jewel tones

These combinations work together to balance warmth and depth within your floral designs.

Dried & Fresh Flower Combos

We recommend mixing dried elements like Lunaria or antiquated hydrangeas with fresh blooms like dahlias, roses, or chrysanthemums. This adds texture to your arrangements, both big and small. Dried florals add warmth and an earthy vibe, while fresh blooms bring vibrant color and fragrance to your bouquets, centerpieces, and other designs.

Draped or Hanging Floral Installations

Our in-house florist, Fiori Florals, can do incredible things to fulfill your wedding dreams at The Ellis. Some of our recommended floral add-ons include dramatic floral installations for the staircase and/or hanging installations for the entryway or curtains! These large-scale arrangements not only serve as statement pieces but also create a sense of continuity throughout your wedding space.

Having a big and bold floral moment with your florals gives your entire wedding a cohesive vibe and aesthetic that will look stunning in pictures and leave a lasting impression on your guests, perfectly tying together your wedding aesthetic and the colors you have chosen.

Wildflower or Handbasket Bridesmaid Bouquets

Unique and “nontraditional” bridesmaid bouquets are something we see more and more of every wedding season. Some specific ideas we get excited about include petite, understated bouquets or full-on wildflower bouquets that capture the wild colors and textures of seasonal florals, with bright blues, oranges, yellows, and soft pinks.

Another trend that’s catching our eye is handbasket bouquets for bridesmaids. These small woven baskets introduce a rustic element and extra texture to your floral   arrangements.
